It is an honor and privilege to be selected to serve as the superintendent of Richland 88a. I look forward to meeting students, families, staff and community members as we begin the 2017-18 school year!
A little bit about my educational background. This will be my 27th year in education. I spent four years as a teacher, two each in Parker, Arizona and Quincy, Illinois. After my teaching days, my next 20 years were spent serving as a building level administrator in Forreston, Frankfort and Plainfield. Prior to this position, I served for two years as the superintendent at River Grove 85.5.
On the personal side, my wife, Kristin, and I live in Frankfort. She is a school principal in Oak Lawn. We are the proud parents of 5 wonderful children who keep us very busy! Having a son who just moved into the workforce, three in high school and one in middle school, well, let’s just say that we both understand and appreciate the challenges parents face raising children in today’s world – it is not easy!
As a person who has been coming to school since he was 5 years old, it has always been important to me that school is a safe and welcoming place for kids and families. As a child, school was my refuge – a place filled with people I knew I could count on each day. We want Richland to be that place for all of our children. And while we may not be perfect every single day – we will strive to make our schools the best they can be each day, for each student.
Our staff has been working hard to get ready for a great year. The rooms are clean, the staff is prepared and we can’t wait to get started. Please check our website and social media outlets (Twitter - @Richland88a and soon a Facebook account with the same name) for information and ways to get involved.
